Mardi Gras World

The Association of Alternative Newsweeklies held its annual convention in New Orleans in 2001, and the host paper, Gambit Weekly, arranged an event one evening at a giant warehouse space called Mardi Gras World, where all the Mardi Gras floats and costumes are stored. As you're looking at these pictures, remember that most of these heads are at least four feet tall--and there are hundreds and hundreds of them, in bizarre juxtapositions, everywhere you look. It was absolutely one of the most surreal places I have ever visited.
