Some pictorial highlights. Ninety percent of my time is spent alone at my desk, writing and drawing, but I do get out of the house occasionally.

Hell in a Handbasket released, late March. This one readily outsold any of my previous books, but still didn’t quite live up to my new publisher’s expectations. Still, it’s a beautifully published book, in full color, containing what I consider to be some of the best work I’ve ever done.

On my book tour, Los Angeles, late March, at a small dinner party thrown for me by the gracious and charming Arianna Huffington. Greg Saunders attended as well, though I stupidly neglected to take a photo of him.

Found this on Marc Maron’s website when Googling around for any other pictures from the tour. I got up that morning at about six a.m. New York time, flew into Los Angeles, did an interview at KPFK, went to the dinner at Arianna’s, did the bookstore event, and then went on Marc’s show at midnight Pacific time, three a.m. by my personal clock. I don’t look as exhausted as I felt.

Backstage at Pearl Jam concert, Hartford, mid-May. I know Eddie Vedder, just slightly, but he was kind enough to invite my wife and me to come see the show when they came through Connecticut. We watched from the edge of the stage, drinking a bottle of wine the singer had given us, which definitely beats sitting in the cheap seats.

With Markos at the infamous party on top of the Stratosphere. I’m not sure what we’re holding or why. From this guy’s Flickr photostream.

In Vegas, Bob Harris and I (and a couple of other friends) visited the amazing Boneyard. It’s a little out of the way, and you have to make an appointment ahead of time, but it’s well worth the trouble.

New Haven, July. We had a small neighborhood party celebrating the release of the book. Jane from Firedoglake was in town covering the Lamont campaign and dropped by, along with the famous hounds.

New Haven, August. Joe Lieberman working the neighborhood on the day of the primary election, the results of which he would soon choose to disregard.

Disgruntled neighbors.

Atrios at Lamont HQ, looking a little tired from the drive.

Wife and child at the beach, early September. I just like this photo.

Eddie again. U2/Pearl Jam concert, Honolulu, December 9. I took a few days off earlier this month and flew a very long way to see a rock show. I wasn’t actually intending to write about it — the concert was a blast, but the rest of the trip was kind of rough, and overall probably not as much fun as you might imagine. Still, this has to be the best rock and roll photograph in which I will ever be featured.
